ScreenDaily is reporting that Irish actors Andrew Scott, Bronagh Waugh, and Denise Gough will begin shooting Simon Fellows’ (Malice In Wonderland) Steel Country in Georgia, USA this week.
When a young boy turns up dead in a sleepy Pennsylvania town, a local sanitation truck driver, Donald, plays detective, embarking on a precarious and obsessive investigation to prove the boy was murdered.
Scott (The Stag, Sherlock) will play Donald, with Waugh (The Fall) and Denise Gough (’71, Jimmy’s Hall) playing unspecified lead roles. They are joined by Cory Scott Allen, Jared Bankens and Michael Rose.
Motion Picture Capital will produce and fully finance the independent feature. Others involved are UK production companies Bankside Films and Bedlam Productions, and the US-based Zero Gravity Management. The film is produced by Mark Williams, Tai Duncan and Gareth Ellis-Unwin (The King’s Speech). Executive producers are Laure Vaysse, Jo Monk, and Lee Vandermolen.
Scott can next be seen in John Butler’s Handsome Devil, which premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11th. Gough is currently working on ABC TV Series Guerrilla with Idris Elba, while Waugh recently shot Axis with director Aisha Tyler, which is scripted by and stars Irishman Emmett Hughes.
