Deadline is reporting that Irish actress Sarah Bolger is set to star as one of the leads in US TV series Mayans MC, a spin-off of FX’s very successful Sons of Anarchy. The news comes just one day after it was announced that Bolger would star in Abner Pastoll’s A Good Woman Is Hard to Find.
The series follows EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border who struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel as well as his need for respect from the women he loves.
Bolger will play Emily, the childhood sweetheart of J. D. Pardo’s EZ. Other actors already confirmed are Edward James Olmos as EZ’s father, Felipe Reyes; John Ortiz as Mayans’ president, Esai “Taino” Osorio; and Richard Cabral as Johnny “El Coco” Cruz, a full patch member of Mayans MC.
Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter will executive produce and direct the pilot, with co-creator Elgin James as co-executive producer.
Bolger can next be seen in Conor McDermottroe’s Halal Daddy, which will be released by Element Pictures Distribution later this year.
