Deadline is reporting that Irish director Ciarán Foy’s next film, Eli, has been acquired by Paramount for their new Paramount Players label. They plan to release the film in the U.S. on January 4th, 2019.
The film follows a young boy who undergoes treatment for his rare disease in a secluded clinic, which becomes a haunted prison. David Chirchirillo wrote the original script, which was featured on the 2015 Black List. It has since been revised by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing.
Dublin-born Foy is best known on these shores for his psychological horror Citadel, which was produced by Blinder Films. He also directed Sinister 2 for U.S. horror stable Blumhouse and is working on The Shee with them and Marcie Films.
Eli will be produced by Trevor Macy for Intrepid, John Zaozirny for Bellevue Productions, with David O’Leary co-producing. Matt Alvarez will executive produce and Melinda Nishioka will also co-produce for Intrepid.
