Irish Film: New Cartoon Saloon short Somewhere Down the Line to premiere at the 2014 Galway Film Fleadh

Academy Award nominated Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon has announced that their new short Somewhere Down the Line will premiere at this years Galway Film Fleadh.

Somewhere Down the Line follows a man’s life, loves and losses, shown through the exchanges he has with the passengers in his car.

The short film was both written and directed by Julien Regnard (La Nuit de l’Ours, Jump) and was produced by a dedicated team of animation talent in Cartoon Saloon’s Kilkenny studio using a combination of 3D and 2D animation techniques. Music was created and produced by Matthew Nolan, Cameron Doyle and Lioba Petrie of Dublin-based collective 3epkano.

Somewhere Down the Line was produced by the Frameworks short film scheme, which is dedicated exclusively to the production of animated films. The scheme was established to develop new talent and skills in the field of animation and has been extremely successful in encouraging innovative and novel work from Irish animators. Frameworks is co-financed by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/ the Irish Film Board, RTÉ and the Arts Council.

Speaking about the film studio co-founder Nora Twomey has this to say:
Julien Regnard and a small, amazing team of talented artists have created a truly beautiful piece of work. The film’s ability to immediately convey a space and time neither fully real nor imagined, is quite special. We are all so proud of Somewhere Down the Line here at Cartoon Saloon.
Somewhere Down the Line will premiere at the 26th Galway Film Fleadh 8-13 July 2014.
