Irish Film: Lenny Abrahamson to direct Brie Larson in Emma Donoghue's Room

Wonderful news for fans of Irish film as acclaimed Irish director Lenny Abrahamson has signed the first actor for his adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s best-selling novel Room. Short Term 12 star Brie Larson is set to play the character of Ma.

The story is told from the perspective of a five-year-old boy, Jack, who is being held captive in a small room along with his mother. And is not to be confused with cult classic (and one of the worst films ever made) The Room, by Tommy Wiseau.

Abrahamson, who will next bring us the Sundance hit Frank, is best known as the creative force behind some of the best Irish movies of the last 10 years in Garage and What Richard Did. He is working from a script penned by the author herself.

Frank will hit Irish screens on May 2nd, with Room entering production shortly for a 2015 release.
