#IrishFilm: Stephen Gaffney’s Red Room to open 8th Underground Cinema Film Festival on August 31st

Writer/director Stephen Gaffney’s horror debut Red Room is set to open the 8th Underground Cinema Film Festival in Dun Laoghaire on August 31st.

The film tells the story of Kyra, Alison, and Lily; three girls snatched off the streets and taken to an isolated location. There they await their turn to enter the “Red Room”. The trio must attempt to escape their sadistic captors in what filmmakers call a “gory and suspenseful ode to cult classics such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Switchblade Romance.”

Produced by Marc Hughes of Sicario Pictures, Red Room is the third film from Deep Web Films, a production company founded by Gaffney and Erica Keegan, and marks the completion of their Deep Web Trilogy, a combination of thriller, crime, drama, and horror films which delve into the darkest corners of the Dark Net.

The film stars Amy Kelly (Red Rock), John D’alessandro (Class-A, Cardboard Gangsters), Eddie Jackson (Game of Thrones), Brian Fortune (Game of Thrones), Alan Sherlock (Lift), and Fionna Twamley-Hewitt (Red Rock, Charlie), alongside Saoirse Doyle (Class-A, Crone Wood), Rodrigo Ternevoy (Fair City), and Aisling O’Neill (Fair City).

Red Room will premiere at the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire at 6:30pm on Thursday, August 31st. Tickets are priced at €10 and can be purchased via the UCFF Website.
