Wildcard Distribution has released the teaser trailer for one of our most anticipated Irish films of 2017, Frank Berry’s prison-drama Michael Inside.
Michael Inside which stars Dafhyd Flynn, Lalor Roddy, and Moe Dunford tells the story of Michael McCrea, an impressionable 18-year-old living with his grandfather Francis in a Dublin housing estate, who gets caught holding a bag of drugs for his friend’s older brother and is sentenced to three months in prison.
We are delighted to be working with Wildcard Distribution on the Irish release of Michael Inside, who have shown great passion for our film. Researched over eighteen months with former prisoners the film is an expression of many real-life experiences, and we very much look forward to Irish audiences seeing it.
Frank Berry, Director
Michael Inside sees Berry once again working with Dafhyd Flynn, who gives a moving performance as Michael, after previously worked together on the critically acclaimed I Used To Live Here. The film was shot in the recently decommissioned Cork Prison and in Dublin. Berry and Donna Eperon produced for Write Direction Films, with Tristan Orpen Lynch and Aoife O’Sullivan executive producers for Subotica. The film was made with the support of the Irish Film Board.
The film will have its world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh this month and will also be the topic of a panel session at the Fleadh Forum which will delve into the area of independent filmmaking looking at the creative approach taken by the filmmakers and discussing how to maximise limited resources to the best effect.
Michael Inside screens at the Galway Film Fleadh on Friday July 14th at the Town Hall Theatre at 8pm.
