Element Pictures Distribution has announced the On-Demand release of Alan Gilsenan’s documentary Meetings With Ivor. The film is now available to stream or download in Ireland from Volta, iTunes and Virgin Media.
Ground-breaking psychiatrist Ivor Browne has been a central figure in Irish mental health for many decades. His pioneering and often controversial work on behalf of the many who cannot speak for themselves is well-known. Alan Gilsenan’s highly-acclaimed film, produced by Tomás Hardiman, captures the essence of this extraordinary man whose unique attributes offer real hope in an increasingly bewildering world.
The film includes contributions from a host of familiar Irish faces including; comedian Tommy Tiernan, playwright Tom Murphy, singer Mary Coughlan, and authors Brendan Kelly, Sebastian Barry and Nell McCafferty. The piper, Ronan Browne, son of Ivor, composed the haunting musical score.
Earlier this year Meetings with Ivor was a huge hit with audiences during its run at the Irish Film Institute, charting as one of their top ten releases of the first half of 2017.
The DVD will be available to purchase from September 29th and will include a host of Special Bonus Features.
