Learn screenwriting with Irish writer-director Mark O'Connor

Want to get a kickstart in the film industry? Got an idea that you know would make a great film? Want to get a leg up on all the other potential filmmakers out there? Good news then as award winning Irish writer-director Mark O’Connor is providing a 6 week course in screenwriting, beginning on June 5th.

The six week course is designed for beginners who are interested in writing a feature film script. The course will explore the ins and outs of screenwriting and it is aimed at writers who want to learn the art of screenwriting or filmmakers who want to develop their writing skills.  Classes will be held in The Lab on Foley Street (just off Talbot Street, Dublin) from 7pm-9pm for six weeks, every Thursday, with the course costing €295.

O’Connor has directed 3 feature films to date, with his debut feature Between the Canals released at a number of cinemas throughout Ireland. His second film King of the Travellers received a UK and Irish cinema release and was selected for festivals around the world. His third feature film Stalker won the Underground Film Festival 2013, won the runner up prize at the Galway Film Festival 2012 and was selected for festivals around the world. So safe to say he knows what he is talking about. O’Connor holds a diploma from the New York Film Academy, a degree in film from Ballyfermot College and a Masters in Screenwriting from IADT. He has taught screenwriting to Masters Students in Dun Laoghaire Institute of Technology and to students in the Irish film Academy and has worked as a script editor and consultant.  He has a number of writing projects in development, including 2 feature films and a television series for TV3.
