Event: When Roddy Doyle Met Lynda Myles @ IFI, April 21

The IFI, in association with Dublin City Libraries’ Dublin: One City, One Book festival, will welcome Roddy Doyle and film producer Lynda Myles to take part in a public conversation about the Barrytown film trilogy Tuesday April 21st at 18.30.

Hosted by radio producer Doireann Ní Bhriain, the conversation will explore their collaboration which began in 1988 when Myles came on board to produce The Commitments and continued through The Snapper, The Van and When Brendan Met Trudy. They will discuss their passion for film (he says he has “never met anyone who loves cinema more than her”); the adaptability of the trilogy; and the different approaches of the films’ directors. The discussion will be illustrated with U.S. cinema trailers for each of the films.

Dublin City Libraries’ Dublin: One City, One Book initiative encourages everyone to read a book connected to the capital city throughout the month of April every year.

Tickets for When Roddy Met Lynda on April 21st at 18.30 cost €9 and are available from the IFI Box Office on 01 679 3477 or online at www.ifi.ie.
