Stefanie Preissner

#Event: Stefanie Preissner Speaks to Film In Cork’s Production Club, Sep 29

After a short summer break, Film In Cork’s Production Club is back with the next session taking place Thursday, September 29th in the RTE Cork Studios, with Cork writer and actress, Stefanie Preissner.

At 28, Preissner is blazing a trail as one of the most influential voices of her generation. Her latest project, Can’t Cope/Won’t Cope, a six-part comedy-drama series, started on RTE 2 this week.

Her one-woman theatre show, Solpadeine is My Boyfriend, enjoyed sell-out runs in Dublin before touring internationally to Bucharest, Edinburgh and Australia, and as a radio play, it became RTE’s most downloaded podcast.

As well as her career as a screenwriter and playwright, she has been nominated for several awards as an actor. Stefanie graduated from University College Cork with a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies and Spanish. Her work has also been explored in a chapter of Radical Contemporary Theatre Practices by Women in Ireland, (Carysfort Press, 2015).

With support from the Irish Film Board, Stefanie’s next project is a screenplay in development with Parallel Films UK (Brooklyn, The Clinic, Intermission).

The Production Club, Film In Cork’s training initiative aimed at local writers, directors and producers, launched last January with writer/ director, David Keating giving an inspirational session on ways of finding a path forward with projects and techniques for clarifying what we are really looking for out of a project and indeed a career.

Please note, attendance at the Production Club talk on September 29th is open to all interested, and whilst there is no charge, booking a place is essential. To book, please email rossa@filmincork.com by Wednesday, September 28th.
