Put on your best plaid ensemble and haul ass to the Sugar Club to roll with the homies for a 20th birthday screening of the 1990s’ quintessential teen flick, Clueless complete with low cal birthday cake.
When Jane Austen wrote her 1816 novel Emma, she never imagined it like this! Clueless is Emma reworked for the nineties into a fresh and satirical look at ultra-rich teenagers in a Beverly Hills high school.
Join Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Dionne (Stacey Dash), both named after “great singers of the past that now do infomercials,” as they obsess over popularity, party, match-make, learn to drive, give makeovers, shop their way through their existential crises, all the while impeccably dressed in nineties couture.
The Producers invite you to come watch the funniest and best-dressed comedy of the nineties — whether you belong with the slackers, the jocks, the nerds, the Persian mafia or the most popular gang in school. Channel your inner 90s teen, answer your sentences with “As If” and “Whatever”, while enjoying the film with a Clueless-inspired cocktail and popcorn calorie fest.
Tuesday 28th 7.30pm (sold out). Tickets to Thursday July 30th 7.30pm screening €7/€8 available at www.eventbrite.ie
For more information see Facebook.
In addition to Clueless, The Producers will also present a special screening of Mean Girls followed by a prom party.
July 24 is Prom night, a celebration of the Mean Girls spring fling dance and all favourite teen movies from Heathers to Clueless, at Dublin’s The Sugar Club.
The prom committee (AKA Film Fatale) will be beautifying your prom surroundings, where you can get your prom pic taken in the photo booth, drink punch and dance in a sea of tinsel curtains and fairy lights. TXFM DJ Claire Beck’s will provide the perfect prom soundtrack, playing your favourite nineties and early noughties songs with a few 80s favourites thrown in.
Live the teen movie dream and experience Prom, give your Debs outfit one last hurrah or wear your perfect prom dress to be crowned prom king, prom queen or class clown by host and performer Regina George.
Tickets to Mean Girls, July 24th 8pm €14/€15 available at www.eventbrite.ie.
