Light House Cinema in Dublin’s Smithfield has put together a programme of Naughty or Nice Christmas films. This year they’re bringing you all the classics, with a bonus Tim Burton duo (Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas) to ease you into festivities. So whether you’re feeling naughty (beer and Die Hard) or nice (candy canes and Elf) or somewhere in between (mulled wine, mince pies and It’s a Wonderful Life), they’ve got you covered.
Season highlights include
FANCY DRESS ELFEOKE – FRI DEC 4th, 9pm
The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear! Come in your craziest Christmas couture to our screening of Elf, followed by big-screen festive karaoke. There will be cocktails. Bring your mates!
FROZEN SINGALONG – DEC 13TH, 1PM | DEC 19TH, 12.15PM | DEC 21ST, 3.45PM
Bring your little ones along to see their favourite film on the big screen, with on-screen lyrics to aid in belting out the tunes! Costumes are encouraged. Don’t miss your opportunity to dance around and sing with Elsa, Anna, Kristof and Olaf! (G)
NAUGHTY FROZEN SINGLALONG – FRI DEC 18TH, 9.30PM
As above, but with cocktails!
EDWARD SCISSORHANDS – FRI DEC 4TH, 10.30PM | SUN DEC 6TH, 4PM | TUE DEC 22ND, 9PM | MON DEC 28TH, 4PM
Set during the Christmas season in a sunny, pastel-coloured town, Tim Burton’s story of a gentle man-made man with scissors for hands stars Johnny Depp at his finest and features some of the most iconic Burton-esque aesthetics. This is a must for the big screen! (PG)
DIE HARD – WED DEC 9TH, 9PM | FRI DEC 11TH, 9PM | SAT DEC 19TH, 10PM
The naughtiest film of our Christmas season, the office Christmas party in the Nakatomi Building is rudely interrupted by terrorists. But they’re no match for barefoot badass John McClane; quick with a quip but quicker with a gun, the bloodiest, most explosive Christmas film ever made. (18)
IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE – SAT DEC 12TH, 8.30PM | SAT DEC 19TH, 7.15PM | TUE DEC 22ND, 5.30PM | WED DEC 23RD, 8PM
At Christmas-time, missing It’s a Wonderful Life is simply not an option. ‘Tis the season to worship at the altar of Capra with this, his masterpiece, starring Jimmy Stewart as a man who needs reminding about the important things in life. (G)
CINEMA BOOK CLUB: HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE – MON DEC 14TH, 6.30PM
By popular demand, they are finally getting around to the ultimate book club favourite. They are starting this Christmas season with the very first book in the Harry Potter series, which features what is quite likely the finest, most magical Christmas feast ever. Read the book, then pop along to the screening of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which will be followed by mulled wine and chats in the bar afterwards. (PG)
To complement the Naughty and Nice Christmas Season the Light House café and bar will be serving delicious menu of festive treats throughout the month of December.
