Film Event: Mean Screen and The Producers present Mean Girls screening

Arguably one of the most quotable movies of our generation Mean Girls is to make a grand return to the big screen in celebration of its 10 year anniversary. The 2004 hit teen comedy will be screened as part of a fetch event screening in the Sugar Club on Tuesday 3 June. Tickets can be purchased on entertainment.ie.

The movie that catapulted the careers of Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried is just one aspect of the event screening. Audience members shout their favourite quotes, sing along to Jingle Bell Rock, play interactive games, drink Glen Coco cocktails and assign themselves to tables that replicate North Shore High’s cafeteria (even the table for ‘Sexually Active Band Geeks’ gets a look in).

For those who have not seen what can now be called the ‘classic’ movie, it’s a teen high school film with a twist. Cady Heron, is a 16-year-old girl who has to adjust to the wild terrain of public high school after being home-schooled whilst living in Africa with her parents for most of her life. She infiltrates the ‘popular’ group or ‘plastics’ as they are known in the film by pretending to be one of them. But Cady soon finds herself immersed in the terrifyingly passive aggressive and seriously cutting ‘Girl World’.

The screenplay is written by doyenne of comedy Tina Fey and is loosely based on Rosalind Wiseman’s 2002 self-help book Queen Bees and Wannabees.
