John Hughes at Screen Cinema, Aug 6th-12th

John Hughes was easily one of the most influential filmmakers working in the 1980s and the man most responsible for capturing that decade on screen. His death last year was a tragedy for all fans of good film and as a tribute the the great man’s work Screen Cinema is dedicating an entire week to showing you some of his best.

The season kicks of with a screening of the perennial favourite The Breakfast Club on August 6th. That’s followed on Saturday August 7th by my favourite Hughes movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Sunday sees Pretty in Pink hit the screens, showing that even the ordinary girl can get the man of her dreams.

The Breakfast Club
will be shown again on August 9th and 11th, with Pretty in Pink repeated on the 10th and 12th. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a one off event with Saturday’s showing also seeing the Club Nassau camper-van packed outside the cinema banging out the hits of the 80s. The screening will be followed by an 80’s school disco themed after party in Club Nassau, Nassau Street with free entry for everyone with a Ferris Bueller ticket stub.

So be sure to get your glad rags on and hit up these once in a generation movies while you can. Full details and tickets are available here.
