Jeff Bridges Season at the IFI

Hot on the heels of his Best Actor nomination for this years Oscars comes news that the Irish film Institute is going to screen a special Jeff Bridges Season at their home in Dublin’s Temple Bar.

The Season runs from Sunday, February 7th until Sunday, February 28th. In all 9 films will be shown which capture the very best that “The Dude” has to offer. First up is his breakthrough performance in The Last Picture Show, a wondrous coming of age drama set in a small Texas town in the 50’s. This will be followed by Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, a movie that like The Last Picture Show saw him nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Also featured will be a childhood classic of mine, Tron, as well as The Fabulous Baker Boys and The Fisher King, two movies which highlight just what a great actor he truly is. The season is rounded out with arguably his best role to date as The Dude in The Big Lebowski.

Tickets are available from the IFI Box Office in person, by phone (01 6793477), or online at www.irishfilm.ie
