Following on from the successful screenings of The Usual Suspects in Galway and Cork last month, the Jameson Cult Film Club returned to Dublin last week for an exhilarating double screening of the cult classic, Fight Club. Organisers were challenged with transporting the audience right into the world of the underground fight club and lucky ticket holders to this free event were not left disappointed.
Dublin’s Tivoli Theatre was completely transformed into a series of sets from the film while Tyler Durden interacted with the crowd and encouraged them to try his Paper Street soap’s at the specially set up workshop.
Throughout the screening, live theatre, props and staging created an electric atmosphere in the venue including the cinema house rules expertly communicated in the style of the Fight Club rules. The infamous body fat collection scene at the lipo clinic was also acted out live, much to the audience’s amusement and the final explosion scene featured pyrotechnics, live fight scenes and smoke effects to really immerse the audience in this nail biting scene.
Following the screening, the party continued in true Jameson style with guests tucking into ‘Project Mayhem’ burgers and Jameson, Ginger and Lime long drinks while renowned DJ Aidan Kelly played some killer tunes.
For the uninitiated, Jameson Cult Film Club is all about watching your favourite cult films at spectacular screenings, staged to transport you into the film’s universe. This is a free event for movie fans, check out www.jamesoncultfilmclub.ie for details of upcoming screenings and register your details for the chance to win free tickets.
