As part of the Green Ribbon campaign to get people talking about mental health this May, After Silence presents a night in celebration of one of America’s most respected cult musicians: Daniel Johnston. The night will feature a screening of the documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
After the screening there will be a Q&A with director Jeff Feuerzeig via Skype and a pre-recorded interview with Daniel Johnston. The night will also feature musical performances of the work of Daniel Johnston from Bobby Aherne (No Monster Club, Women’s Christmas). With more to be confirmed.
The event takes place onTuesday May 6th at 7.30pm in Filmbase, Temple Bar. There’s a suggested €3 donation, but all donations will be welcomed.
This screening is being put on by After Silence, a group that aims to promote Mental Health awareness and discussion, using music to start the conversation. After Silence believes that music plays an important role in all of our lives to help give a voice to topics that can sometimes be difficult to speak about on a talking level. Through this expression people can share their experiences and listen to those of others and can start asking questions, not just about the music, but about these broader issues and learning from each other.
