News from America, where Film Movement has acquired the North American rights to Gerard Barrett’s Glassland (????).
Glassland tells the story of a young taxi driver on the fringes of the criminal underworld, who in an effort to save his mother from addiction and unite his broken family is forced to make a life changing moral decision.
Featuring a formidable cast with IFTA Winning Jack Reynor (What Richard Did), fresh off Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction opposite Mark Wahlberg and most recently Justin Kurzel’s MacBeth (which also stars Michael Fassbender). Joining Reynor is Emmy, Golden Globe award winning and Oscar Nominated actress Toni Collette (Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine), rising British star and the 2014 BAFTA Rising Star winner Will Poulter (Son of Rambow, We’re the Millers) and award winning Northern Irish actor Michael Smiley (A Field in England, Kill List).
Glassland is Barrett’s second feature film following the hugely acclaimed Pilgrim Hill, and was co-winner of Best Film at the Galway Film Fleadh last year.Reynor’s performance won him a Grand Jury Prize at Sundance earlier this year. Barrett is currently in post-production on his latest feature Brain on Fire, which features Chloë Grace Moretz, Jenny Slate, Thomas Mann, Tyler Perry, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Richard Armitage.
The film was written and directed by Barrett and produced by Ed Guiney (Frank, What Richard Did) and Juliette Bonass (Get Up and Go) for Element Pictures in association with Barrett’s NINE. The film was financed by the Irish Film Board and Element Picture.

Film Movement are planning a 2016 VOD and theatrical release fro the film, but here at home you can already buy it on DVD and VOD.
