#Career: Screen Training Ireland seeking female directors for shadow opportunities

Screen Training Ireland is seeking names of female directors who would be interested in possible shadow directing opportunities on Irish feature film and TV productions.

They are currently researching various shadowing models and arrangements, with the aim of providing effective career progression platforms. Any shadow directing arrangement would – by the nature of production – vary, and requires a fluid approach. But the overall objective would be to provide participants with exposure and experience in prep, shoot and post, and ultimately to help increase the number of future productions being directed by female talent.

This is not a training scheme and any shadowing opportunities that do arise under such an arrangement would not be open to entry-level talent. The focus is on career advancement.

Candidates interested in shadow directing on Feature Film must have a director credit on at least two short films that have had a theatrical release or TV broadcast. And be attached to direct a feature film, which ideally is in receipt of development finance.

Candidates interested in shadow directing on TV Series must have directed at least one short that has had a theatrical release or TV broadcast, and have a director or assistant director credit on at least one TV scripted drama of a minimum of 30 minutes’ duration.

To register interest, please contact dearbhlaregan@screentrainingireland.ie by Friday April 1st.
Please supply a current CV, a link to a showreel, and a short description of why shadow directing opportunities might be beneficial in advancing your directing career.
