Irish film industry group Film Network Ireland is taking its online networking community into the real world with its first official meetup event.
Taking place in the Generator Hostel in Smithfield on Thursday 11th August at 6.30pm, the event is open to any filmmaker looking to make some connections in Ireland. Ticket prices for the event are €10 including booking fee.
The night will come in two parts:
- First, is the speed networking event. From 7pm to 8pm, participants will have five minutes to talk to another filmmaker, introduce themselves, exchange information and talk about ideas. After five minutes, a bell rings and each participant moves on to another person. This happens every five minutes for an hour.
- The second part of the evening is the more informal part. Did you meet someone during the speed networking section who you wanted to chat with for longer? This is your chance to do so, as we open the evening to a more organic form of networking.
Film Network Ireland was started by Paul Butler-Lennox and Ray Mongey in 2010 as a way of using Facebook to benefit the Irish filmmaking community. The page currently has 8000 members, with dozens of posts everyday, and filmmakers regularly using the page to find work and realise their projects.
For tickets, please see the Eventbrite page.
All proceeds from the event will go to KinoD, a filmmaking event taking place in August that brings filmmakers from Ireland and abroad to make movies in Dublin. For more info on KinoD check out their Facebook page.
