Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) has announced details of a new partnership with RTÉ2 which will see a series of Saturday night slots for Irish feature films which will be broadcast on RTÉ2.

To mark this new partnership, RTÉ2 will screen the television world premiere of the hit film The Hardy Bucks Movie, which was released to box office success in Irish cinemas last year. The Hardy Bucks Movie was directed by Mike Cockayne with finance from Bord Scannán na hÉireann / the Irish Film Board and RTE. A sequel feature film project is currently in development with the IFB.

James Hickey, Chief Executive Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board said
Irish movies have proved very popular when broadcast on RTE. This partnership underlines RTÉ2’s and the IFB’s commitment to showcasing the best of Irish talent, ensuring Irish audiences have an opportunity to view a wide range of Irish feature films. I’d also like to take this opportunity to congratulate RTE on the launch of the newly launched RTÉ2.
RTÉ2 viewers can look forward to award winning feature film movies including The Guard starring Brendan Gleeson, the dark comedy Adam and Paul which has become a cult hit with fans and was directed by Lenny Abrahamson, and What Richard Did, also directed by Abrahamson, and which launched the career of Irish actor Jack Reynor, recently seen in the latest Transformers film.

Other IFB funded films which recently received record ratings when broadcast on RTE One include feature documentaries Rough Rider, telling the story of cyclist Paul Kimmage and the world of professional cycling, set against the backdrop of the fall of Lance Armstrong and the 2013 Tour de France; and award winning feature documentary The Summit, the story of the deadliest day on the world’s most dangerous mountain, when eleven climbers mysteriously perished on K2.
