#Industry: Irish Film Board welcomes the appointment of Dr Annie Doona as Chair designate

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, has nominated Dr Annie Doona as Chair designate of Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB), for the period until the completion of the term of the present Board in January 2017.

Commenting on the appointment James Hickey Chief Executive said

Dr. Annie Doona has done a huge amount of work on the IFB Board since her appointment in 2012, and in particular since she stepped into the position of acting Chair after Bill O’Herlihy’s death last year, which was a great loss to us all. The IFB and the industry at large has benefited from the wealth of experience and dedication that she has brought to the Board during her term. We are delighted that she has today been appointed Chair designate.

Dr Doona was appointed as a member of the Board in January 2013 and has been Acting Chair since the untimely death of Bill O’Herlihy in May 2015. Her formal appointment will be made after her appearance before the relevant Oireachtas Committee.

Dr. Annie Doona is President of IADT (Institute of Art, Design & Technology) Dun Laoghaire. She has extensive experience in strategy development, educational leadership, and equality and diversity. She has been involved in developing national strategies for Further and Higher Education in the UK and Ireland. She is a Board member of Institutes of Technology Ireland, a Board Member and Associate Fellow of Gradcam (Graduate School of Creative Arts and Media). Dr Doona is a graduate of the University of Sheffield and achieved her Doctorate in Education in the School of Continuing Education at the University of Nottingham.
