US distributor Kaleidoscope Entertainment has released the first US trailer for Gerard Barrett’s new Irish film Glassland. The film plays the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival on March 27th.
Glassland tells the story of a young taxi driver on the fringes of the criminal underworld, who in an effort to save his mother from addiction and unite his broken family is forced to make a life changing moral decision.
Featuring a formidable cast with IFTA Winning Jack Reynor (What Richard Did), fresh off Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction opposite Mark Wahlberg and most recently Justin Kurzel’s MacBeth (which also stars Michael Fassbender). Joining Reynor is Emmy, Golden Globe award winning and Oscar Nominated actress Toni Collette (Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine), rising British star and the 2014 BAFTA Rising Star winner Will Poulter (Son of Rambow, We’re the Millers) and award winning Northern Irish actor Michael Smiley (A Field in England, Kill List).
Glassland is Barrett’s second feature film following the hugely acclaimed Pilgrim Hill, and was co-winner of Best Film at the Galway Film Fleadh last year. The film was written and directed by Barrett and produced by Ed Guiney (Frank, What Richard Did) and Juliette Bonass (Get Up and Go) for Element Pictures in association with Barrett’s NINE. The film was financed by the Irish Film Board and Element Pictures Distribution who will release the film in the UK and Ireland on April 17th.
