#IrishFilm: Extras sought for A Girl From Mogadishu on Monday February 26th

Extras are no longer required for Mary McGuckian’s new feature A Girl From Mogadishu – a true story based on the testimony of Ifrah Ahmed, which is currently shooting in Dublin. Interested people were being asked to be part of the film as an extra in a Hijab Chic Fashion Show event. Producers have advised that all of the necessary roles have now been filled.

This will take place at The Westin Hotel, Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2 between 6pm and 9.30pm on Monday February 26th.

Producers are looking for males and females aged 18+dressed in Formal wear (suits for men, cocktail-evening wear for women), and with hair/ make-up done for a night out.

Ifrah Ahmed, having escaped war-torn Somalia, has emerged as one of the world’s foremost international activists. Born into a refugee camp in war-torn Somalia, Ifrah is trafficked to Ireland as a teenager. Recounting her traumatic childhood experiences of Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting (FGM/C) when applying for refugee status, she is re-traumatized and vows to devote her life to the eradication of the practice. Taking her campaign all the way to the President of Ireland and finally to the European Parliament and United Nations.

A Girl from Mogadishu stars Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder, Birth of a Nation) as Ifrah, Martha Canga Antonio (Black) and Barkhad Abdi (Blade Runner 2049, Eye of the Storm, Captain Phillips).

A Girl from Mogadishu is a Pembridge (Ireland) and Umedia (Belgium) production, with production services provided by Dune Film Productions in Morocco. Post-production will take place at Windmill Studios, Dublin and Umedia VFX, Brussels.
