Following a world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and a domestic premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, British actor Billie Piper’s directorial debut Rare Beasts will have its Irish premiere at the Kerry International Film Festival on Sunday, October 20th at 6.30
Rare Beasts is written, directed by and stars Piper as Mandy, a modern woman in a crisis. Raising a boy, Larch, in a female revolution and professionally writing about a love that no longer exists, she falls upon a troubled man, Pete, who seeks traditional dynamics and a sense of worth in this current female movement.
The film also features David Thewlis (Harry Potter, Fargo), Lily James (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, Cinderella), Kerry Fox (Patrick’s Day, Downriver) and Irish star Antonia Campbell-Hughes (The Canal, Never Grow Old).

The 20th Kerry International Film Festival takes place from the 17th– 21st October in Killarney, with screenings in Cinema Killarney and St. Mary’s Church, and industry events in Killarney House and the Plaza Hotel.
