Fastnet Film Festival has announced the European Premiere of Quattro Colori, directed by Donal Moloney to be screened in Schull at the end of May. This stunning Irish feature length Documentary shot in Italy, tells the story of the oldest tradition in Florence through the eyes, ears, blood, sweat and the tears of four Calciante (traditional football players). Each player represents one of four districts in Florence, identified by a Church and a colour: red, white, blue and green. Over 500 years old, there is no event like this anywhere in the world.
With few rules, bare knuckle boxing, wrestling, MMA, rugby, kicking, throwing and running, to put the ball in the opponent’s goal is the objective. With 27 men on each team, they battle it out for 50 minutes in traditional costume, under the scorching Tuscan sun.
Quattro Colori is beautifully shot and a feast for the eyes, directed by Donal Moloney, professional commercial photographer based in Dublin. Much of his work focuses on shooting people for advertising print campaigns. His work has been displayed throughout the world, including campaigns for Coca Cola, Kellogg’s, Bank of Ireland and Vodafone. Most of his spare time is spent working on profile documentaries and personal photographic projects. He started shooting short documentaries five years ago including Two of a Kind (Special Mention at Fastnet 2019) and Martin (Winner Cosmic Angel Short Film Award 2018). In recent times Donal concentrates much of his energy on feature length Documentaries.
The 12th Fastnet Film Festival will run for five days from Wednesday May 20th to Sunday May 24th in the seaside village of Schull and promises to be something special. Fastnet will screen 12 Feature Films, run 12 workshops and 12 Seminars in 12 pop up cinemas in a village that has no cinema. The Festival will include the Filmmaker’s Hub, Live Music, Parties, Drama, Movie Quiz, free family entertainment and Café Viewing all over town. Some unique and new events for 2020 to be announced.
