Kerry Film Festival 2016

#Festival: Kerry Film Festival 2016 closes with awards after 5 superb days of film

The 2016 Kerry Film Festival closed on Sunday night after five days of short film, feature film and film industry events. The event was well attended by locals, as well as a large number of Irish and international filmmakers.

The festival closed with the World Premiere of Brackenmore, produced by Caragh Lake Films who collaborated with a number of local organisations including Kerry County Council and the Kerry ETB. The cinema had seen full houses all day for the screenings of 13 Kerry Connection short films. KFF 2016 highlighted the superb work being done in the region as it opened and closed with two distinctly different Kerry-made features, as well as featuring the 13 locally-produced shorts.

The festival also featured a large number of Irish and international shorts, as well as industry events throughout the Saturday dedicated to the craft of short-filmmaking, including a coffee-table seesion with Scannain managing editor Niall Murphy and Filmbase MD Alan Fitzpatrick.

Closing night featured the Awards ceremony at the Acoustic Ballroom at the INEC with seven award categories announced.

The Best Kerry Connection was awarded to Deadly View, directed by Malcolm Willis, while the coveted Best Irish Narrative was awarded to Homecoming, directed by Sinéad O’Loughlin.
