The Into Film Festival, the world’s largest free film and education event for young people, returns November 8th to 24th presenting 3,000 free cinema screenings, and showcasing over 140 films at more than 600 venues across the UK. Over 100 free screenings and events are taking place across Northern Ireland in Belfast, Derry, Strabane, Omagh, Newry, Enniskillen, Dungannon and many, many more.
Featuring guest speakers from the film industry and supported by free curriculum-linked resources, the festival aims to help educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds by inspiring young people to watch and understand film in new and creative ways.
Boasting everything from specialist films to exclusive previews of upcoming blockbusters – as well as inclusive SEN and autism-friendly screenings – the Into Film Festival has something to offer everyone.
Into Film Festival tickets are free to book for everybody, and by attending the Festival you’ll have access to:
- A programme of 130+ films, chosen specifically for schools (including audio-described, subtitled, and autism-friendly screenings)
- Age-appropriate talks from actors, directors and industry experts
- Workshops and careers advice
- Flexible and engaging resources to support pre- and post-screening work
Whilst some elements of the Into Film program (including the free DVD service ) are restricted to schools in the North, Teachers and educators from across the Ireland can register to access all of the free online support and training with access to over 500 downloadable classroom resources associated with the use of film in the classroom.
Educators actively and directly feed into the development of the Festival programme, and 98% of teachers surveyed felt the Festival activities were valuable to the broader education of young people, and 80% said the festival is useful in helping to deliver the curriculum.
