The Galway Junior Film Fleadh, which runs November 11th to 14th, is looking for entries from young filmmakers from the ages of 7 to 18 inclusive for their Future Filmmakers Short Film Programmes.
In addition to a mix of workshops, script competition, and panels, this provides young filmmakers with a platform to show their work on a big screen, whether made individually, with friends, school, college, class, youth or sports club.
Whether on a camera, phone or tablet, it’s never been easier to make a film. Entries must be under 15 minutes and have been made in 2014/15. A rough cut on DVD/link will be accepted at submission stage, providing time to finish the film off and to add special effects if selected.
Any genre/style from Documentary, Animation, Drama, Action, Musical, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Horror, experimental or any mix thereof is acceptable.
This year the Junior Film Fleadh in partnership with the Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund (MMBF) will hand out the Rising Stars Awards for Future Filmmakers. A prize will be offered in each of the 3 categories as follows:
The winning short in Future Filmmakers 1 (for beginner/primary filmmakers) will receive a unique trophy, while the winning entry in Future Filmmakers programme 2 (teens/secondary level filmmakers) will receive €75 along with a certificate. The winner filmmaker in Future Filmmakers 3 (Older teens and established young filmmakers) will receive a certificate, €150 and the opportunity to either work on a film set in the UK (If over 18) or attend a film festival in the UK (To be confirmed but most likely either London Film Festival or Raindance). Travel costs will be subsidised by MMBF.
Entry forms can be found at www.galwayfilmfleadh.com. Closing date for entries is Wednesday 9th September 2015.
