The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival are adding three talented female guests to the already impressive programme. Festival favourite Saoirse Ronan will be attending this year for her new film Lost River, written and directed by actor Ryan Gosling. Saoirse returns to the Festival seven years after her first appearance to introduce this neo-noir fantasy film in Cineworld on the first Saturday (March 21st).
Another Festival familiar, Pollyanna McIntosh is back with her new horror film Let Us Prey. This feature debut by Irish director Brian O’Malley also stars Liam Cunningham. Police Constable Rachel Heggie (McIntosh) is stationed at a sleepy station house staffed largely by the lazy, the corrupt, and the unprofessional. But a mysterious figure (Cunningham) arrives and begins to turn the police and prisoners against themselves, bringing chaos, death, and lots of fire. Brian O’Malley and Pollyanna McIntosh will introduce Let Us Prey on Friday March 27th in Light House cinema.
The third guest is writer/director Carol Morley, who is attending the Festival with her new mysterious black comedy, The Falling, starring Maise Williams (Game of Thrones) and newcomer Florence Pugh. Williams and Pugh star as two teenage friends, Lydia and Abbie. When an unexpected tragedy occurs, Lydia begins twitching and fainting at school. Her malady infects fellow pupils and teachers but stern headmistress, Miss Alvaro (Monica Dolan), thinks it’s all down to their over-active imaginations. Carol Morley, who is best known for her documentaries Dreams of a Life and The Alcohol Years, will be attending the screening on the closing Saturday (March 28th) in the Light House cinema and will take part in a Q&A.
