Dublin Web Fest announce award nominations

The Dub Web Fest will launch this Friday 20th November in partnership with Filmbase in Temple Bar.The festival showcases an eclectic programme of Irish and International Web Series during three days of sought-after masterclasses and panels. These workshops hosted by noted professionals in the film, TV, video and production industries will provide the opportunity for networking sessions, discussion and collaboration among directors, writers and producers from all over the world.

This momentous celebration of online storytelling and digital series will culminate on Sunday 22nd with the Official Dub Web Fest Awards Ceremony where the talent, dedication and passion of online film makers and digital creators will be recognised with nominations for awards including the Green Curtain Award for Best Web Series, Best Irish Series, Best Comedy, Best Cinematography and many more besides.

Burning Wishes, a black comedy from Cork which featured on RTEs Storyland series is nominated for six awards including the Filmbase Best Irish Series Award. Also nominated in this category is 5 Cents and the Boyz, Farr, The Hurler and Garda Series a mockumentary style comedy-drama following the lives of two country Guards in rural Ireland. by Meath writer /director Trevor O’Neill.

Osmosis, a futuristic French series which explores online dating in a dystopian world, is certainly one to watch. Directed by Louis Criche, produced by Anne Santa Maria ( Taronja Productions) and broadcast by Arte Creative, this entry is in the running for the Best Series, Best Horror/ Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Best Directing, Best Screenplay and Best French series.

Nominated among the Best Documentary entries is The Journey of the Documentary by filmmaker Atalanti Dionysus, a transmedia project which features interviews from professional documentary filmmakers, social media experts, games developers, artists, academics and innovators of documentary.

The full list of award categories can be viewed here and the judging panel includes prolific producer Edwina Forkin(Swansong), cultural journalist Clara Rose Thornton (RTEArena), and award-winning cinematographer Bob Gallagher (Girlband).

The prize-giving ceremony will kick-off at 8pm in Filmbase hosted by award winning Dublin comedian Donal Vaughan and the entertainment will continue in the cool bourbon bar of The Liquor Rooms where guests can network and while the night away to the sounds of popular house DJ Salacious.
