Irish Abroad: Fantastic Films bring 5 films to Cannes

Dublin based Fantastic Films has announced that Fortissimo Films has acquired the worldwide rights for Dennis Bartok’s directorial debut, P.O.V., with pre-sales commencing at Cannes.

Casting for the Irish set film is currently underway, with principal photography scheduled for late summer 2015, for an early 2016 debut. Brendan McCarthy and John McDonnell of Fantastic Films will produce, along with Jan Doense and Herman Slagter of Netherhorror.

Bartok is best known as the writer and producer on 2006 anthology horror film Trapped Ashes, which featured a segment by Gremlins director Joe Dante.

P.O.V. is one of five horror films for which Fantastic Films are hoping to secure international distribution at Cannes. The others are David Keating’s Cherry Tree, Corin Hardy’s Sundance hit The Hallow, Billy O’Brien’s Minnesotan based I Am Not A Serial Killer, and Brian O’Malley’s multi award-winning Let Us Prey.
