Screen Skills Ireland, in association with IADT, is currently running a new course on Multi-Camera Directing for TV non-fiction. The course commenced on Monday 12 August 2019 in the IADT TV studio.
Award-winning Multi-Camera Director, Richard Valentine (Live 8, Dancing With The Stars) designed the course with Screen Skills Ireland to address skills gaps in multi-camera directing for live TV programming. Each of the participants have professional industry experience in TV and are looking to step up into the role of Multi-Camera Director. This training programme provides participants with an opportunity to go through a high level industry designed programme with a highly experienced multi-camera director at the helm.
Participants will undergo a week of intensive studio based training which involves workshops on camera, lighting, production design, vision mixing, and sound, as well as detailed briefings on preparing camera scripts, running orders and time charts, and scheduling rehearsals.
They will then put their skills into practice and work alongside a crew of skilled craftspeople, scripting and directing a magazine show and scripting and directing a live musical event.
By the conclusion of this course, participants will have been trained in the key aspects of multi-camera directing, which will enable them to direct in a multi-camera studio environment.
This course will provide much-needed skills development for experienced TV personnel to step up to the new challenge of multi-camera directing. Participants have a fantastic opportunity to learn from a highly experienced director in order to gain the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a multi-camera studio environment.
