Filmbase and Screen Training Ireland will host a public talk between Matthew Carnahan, creator and showrunner of the Emmy award-winning Showtime series House of Lies and Stefanie Preissner, creator and writer of the RTE 2 comedy series Can’t Cope/Won’t Cope. The talk will take place 7pm t o 9pm Wednesday, October 5th at Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
Stefanie will lead Matthew in conversation and discuss the art, business and craft of writing for television. Matthew will discuss his career, projects which have included the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series House of Lies, Dirt, and Trinity, the current landscape for writers looking to the US for opportunities, emerging trends in the television industry and advice for new writers aiming to develop professional careers. There will also be an open opportunity for Q&A and an open discussion with the audience will be encouraged.
This is a unique opportunity for Irish writers, producers and filmmakers to engage with one of the US industry’s most successful showrunners in a relaxed and informal environment. This course is open to writers, producers and directors.
