#Training: In The Writers Room II with Matthew Carnahan, June 28th to 30th

Filmbase and Screen Training Ireland are launching a new course: In The Writers Room 2 with Matthew Carnahan Creator/Showrunner of Emmy award-winning Showtime series House of Lies. This unique course aims to provide an introduction to Television Series Concept Development via an intensive project based programme.

The course will take place over 3 days from Wednesday, June 28th at Filmbase in Dublin, and at a cost of €250.

Participants are asked to apply with a 1 page outline which they wish to develop for either drama or comedy.

  • Character Development
  • Audience
  • Writing Pitches and bibles
  • Markets
  • Representation

Carnahan will be assisted in giving the course by Des Doyle, the director of the critically acclaimed documentary Showrunners: The Art of Running a TV Show, which featuring Matthew Carnahan, JJ Abrams (AliasLostFringe), Hart Hansen (Bones), Robert and Michelle King (The Good Wife), Ronald D. Moore (OutlanderBattlestar Galactica), Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory) and Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire SlayerFireflyDollhouse) amongst others. The documentary also led to the accompanying book Showrunners, written by Tara Bennett and published by Titan.

As this is a workshop-based course places are extremely limited.

Participant Profile:

Experienced writers and development personnel who wish to develop a television series concept. Applicants must have a minimum of one professional screenwriting or development credit.
