Education: IFI announces new 6-week IFI Evening Course, Altered State

The IFI presents Altered State, a new six-week course asking how filmmakers have defined our nation and examining six films in which a particular vision of an Irish state is portrayed. They offer a view unique to the filmmaker, which will be considered through follow-up discussions with directors and academics.

Starting on Tuesday, February 23rd and running on consecutive Tuesdays until March 29th, the course programme features Steve McQueen’s Hunger (with guest Dr. Roddy Flynn); Muriel Box’s This Other Eden (with guest Dr. Ruth Barton); Joe Comerford’s Down the Corner (with guest Joe Comerford and IFI’s Sunniva O’Flynn); John Boorman’s The Tiger’s Tail (with guest John Boorman); Carmel Winters’ Snap (with guest Carmel Winters); and Donal Foreman’s Out of Here (with guests Donal Foreman and The Irish Times’ Tara Brady). The IFI Evening Course is open to all to attend and no previous study is required.
