Irish Film: Donegal Film Office launches to promote film in the county

The Donegal Film Office has launched a new website, aiming to promote and attract filmmaking in the county. The new-look website can be seen at http://www.donegalfilmoffice.ie/

The website was launched in the scenic Glenveagh National Park by Donegal-native actor Sean McGinley (Braveheart, The General, Man About Dog), IFB Film Commissioner Naoise Barry and Donegal Film Office manager Aideen Doherty.

The Film Office, a part of Donegal County Council, acts as the main resource for Donegal filmmakers and for those globally who wish to film in Donegal, and was established in 2003. Working in cooperation with Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, the Film Office helps filmmakers to find locations, cast and crew, technical services and local service providers.

In addition to showcasing the wide range of filming locations available in Donegal, the website also details courses available at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT).

Previous films to have been shot in Donegal include Grabbers starring Richard Coyle, Russell Tovey, and Ruth Bradley, and Wake Wood starring Aidan Gillen, Eva Birthistle, and Timothy Spall.
