U.S. distributor Bleecker Street has released the official trailer for Sebastián Lelio’s Disobedience, based on the novel of the same name by Naomi Alderman. The film is produced by Element pictures.
Disobedience is adapted by Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, and stars Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams, and Alessandro Nivola. The film follows young woman who returns to her Orthodox Jewish home after learning about the death of her estranged father. She causes an upheaval in the quiet community when she rekindles a repressed love with her best friend – a woman now married to her cousin.
Disobedience is produced by Ed Guiney for Dublin-based Element Pictures is run by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, with offices in Dublin and London, working across production, distribution, and exhibition. Disobedience will be released in the US on April 27th and in Ireland and the UK by Curzon Artifical Eye and Element Pictures Distribution on August 24th.
