Following its sold out US premiere at the prestigious Slamdance Film Festival this week, Irish Indie Western Darkness on the Edge of Town has been acquired by international distributor CinemaVault.
The revenge thriller was written and directed by Patrick Ryan and produced by Lagoon Pictures. It stars Emma Eliza Regan, Emma Willis and Brian Gleeson. Filmed in Co. Kerry, Darkness premiered at the 2014 Galway Film Fleadh to unanimously positive reviews praising its originality, cinematography and performances.
Earning equally strong reviews Stateside and featuring in a number of top picks for Sundance/Slamdance,Darkness on the Edge of Town continues its film festival run at the San Francisco IndieFest (February 5th to 19th), with more US and European festival screenings to follow throughout 2015.
Based in Canada and specialising in diverse and distinctive independent feature films, CinemaVault is a well-established presence on the international sales circuit, with their current catalogue including the 2015 Best Foreign Language Academy Award nominee Tangerines. They will be launching Darkness on the Edge of Town at the 2015 Berlinale European Film Market this week.
Just prior to Slamdance, the filmmakers teamed up with American sales agent Traction Media (Short Term 12, Half Nelson, Hard Candy), and are currently negotiating a distribution deal for the US and Canadian markets, with a view to limited theatrical release and VOD.
