Here’s the new quad poster for Vivienne DeCourcy’s new Irish film Dare to be Wild, which will be released later this year.
Dare to be Wild tells the real-life story of a working class Irish girl Mary Reynolds, who takes on the wealthiest of British high society in world-renowned Chelsea flower show – bringing her spirited, offbeat style into the traditionally conservative competition.
Director and screenwriter DeCourcy, who makes her feature directorial debut with the film, met Mary Reynolds while searching for a landscape designer for her home in Ireland. The women bonded through their commitment to protect wild nature. De Courcy devoted most of a decade to bringing Reynolds’ life story to the screen.
Rising stars Emma Greenwell (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and Tom Hughes (About Time) play Mary Reynolds and Christy Collard, whose central love affair roots the film. The film also stars Séainín Brennan, Christine Marzano, Alex Macqueen, and Alaa Safi.
The creative team includes IFTA winning cinematographer Cathal Watters (Viva) and Oscar nominated costume designer Consolata Boyle (Philomena), with a soundtrack by Colm Mac Con Iomaire that features Academy Award-winners Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard (Once).
Dare to be Wild was produced by Robert Walpole and Rebecca O’Flanagan of Treasure Entertainment, as well as Sarah Johnson (Birdman) and Patricia Lambrecht (The Queen of Versailles). The film was financially supported by RTÉ, the BAI, and Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.
