Casting Notice: Open call in Kilkenny for Jim Sheridan’s The Secret Scripture

Jim Sheridan’s new film The Secret Scripture started principal photography in Wicklow on Monday, with an all-star Irish and international cast. Now the production is giving you a chance to be involved with an open casting in the Cois Abhann Centre in Inistioge, Co Kilkenny on Wednesday January 21st, from 10am to 5.30pm.

With the film being set in the 1940s, applicants are advised that they should attempt to look of that period with naturally coloured hair and no visible piercings or tattoos. Filming in Inistoge will take place for a week in early February.

The film, which is an adaptation of Sebastian Barry’s 2008 Man Booker Prize nominated novel of the same name, is the story of a one-hundred-year-old woman, Roseanne McNulty, who now residing in Roscommon Regional Mental Hospital decides to write her autobiography.

The current cast includes the recently announced Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, as well as Aidan Turner, Rooney Mara, Vanessa Redgrave, Eric Bana, Jack Reynor, and Theo James.

The Secret Scripture, which received a €600,000 commitment from the Irish Film Board, is produced by Noel Pearson of Ferndale Films, in association with Voltage Pictures, the Ingenious Senior Film Fund, and the European Media Fund.
