Deadline is reporting that Irish national treasure Brendan Gleeson has signed on to star in Ben Affleck’s next directorial outing, Live By Night.
Affleck is adapting the Dennis Lehane novel of the same name, which is set in Prohibition era Boston. Gleeson will play, a prominent police captain, and father of Affleck and Scott Eastwood’s characters. Affleck plays the lead, Joe Coughlin, a man who defies his proper upbringing by climbing a ladder of organised crime that takes him from Boston to Florida, to Havana, where he encounters a dangerous cast of characters who are all fighting for their piece of the American dream.
The trio are joined in the drama by Zoe Saldana, Sienna Miller, Elle Fanning, Chris Messina, and Chris Cooper. Principal photography on the film began on October 28.
Live By Night will be be released by Warner Bros. in 2017.
