#IrishActor: Domhnall Gleeson to star as AA Milne in Goodbye Christopher Robin

Deadline is reporting that Dublin actor Domhnall Gleeson is in talks to play Winnie the Pooh creator AA Milne, in Simon Curtis’ Goodbye Christopher Robin.

The film is based on the relationship between Milne and his son Christopher Robin, whose teddy bear gave inspiration to Pooh. Robin’s other toys also gave their names to other characters, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo and Tigger, with two more characters, Rabbit and Owl, created from Milne’s imagination. Christopher Robin Milne’s own toys are now on display in New York.

Damian Jones will produce the film for Pathe, in association with US studio Fox Searchlight.

Four of Gleeson’s most recent films Ex Machina, The Revenant, Brooklyn and Star Wars: The Force Awakens featured heavily at the Oscars. He can next be seen in the Doug Liman-directed Mena with Tom Cruise, before returning as General Hux in Star Wars: Epidode VIII. Only last week he signed on to Netflix’s National Lampoon origin film A Futile And Stupid Gesture.He is represented in Ireland by The Agency’s Karl Hayden.
