Irish Actor: Jack Reynor joins Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire

Deadine is reporting that Irish actor Jack Reynor has joined the cast of Ben Wheatley’s new film Free Fire.

Reynor joins his Glassland co-star, Northern Ireland’s Michael Smiley, and Cork man Cillian Murphy in the cast. Other newcomers to the cast include Sam Riley and Noah Taylor, Sharlto Copley, Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Enzo Cilenti, and Babou Ceesay already onboard.

Shooting began yesterday on what is Wheatley’s first US film, a hard-boiled crime film set in 1970s Boston. Free Fire sees a secluded meeting between two gangs in a warehouse suddenly explode into a shoot-out and a fight for survival.

Martin Scorsese is executive producer, with Ben Wheatley and Amy Jump having penned the script. Andy Starke and Ben Wheatley’s Rook Films is producing. Film4 and BFI have co-financed the film, with Protagonist handing international sales and co-repping the domestic sale with WME.
