Irish actress Eve Hewson cast in Robin Hood: Origins

Deadline is reporting that Irish actress Eve Hewson will star as Maid Marian in Peaky Blinders‘ director Otto Bathurst’s Robin Hood: Origins.

Hewson, who is currently starring in US TV series The Knick, will feature opposite Taron Egerton as Robin Hood. Filming on this Lionsgate property is set to commence once Egerton completes the follow-up to his star-making role, Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Writer Joby Harold, who also scripted the forthcoming Guy Ritchie fantasy adventure Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur, has written what is being described as a gritty, revisionist take on the legend. The plot sees Robin Hood return from fighting in The Crusades to find a Sherwood Forest rife with corruption and evil.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson produce for Appian Way, alongside Harold Tunnell, Tory Tunnell, and Basil Iwanyk for Safe House.

Hewson can next be seen in Steven Spielberg’s Cold-War spy-thriller Bridge of Spies, out November 27th.
