British star Will Poulter is set to reteam with Irish director Gerard Barrett for Barrett’s next film Brain on Fire, an adaptation of Susannah Cahalan’s bestselling memoir Brain On Fire: My Month Of Madness.
Variety is that Poulter, who stars in Barrett’s latest feature Glassland, will play the boyfriend of the main character in the film. American actress Dakota Fanning has already been cast in that role. Barrett is adapting the screenplay for the film, which follows a young woman’s descent into insanity.
An Irish/Canadian co-production, Brain On Fire will be produced by Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, and A.J. Dix for Denver & Delilah Films and Rob Merilees for Foundation Features. Barrett is also attached as co-producer.
Shooting is set to take place in Vancouver and New York in July. Glassland played in competition at Sundance, where Poulter’s co-star Jack Reynor won the World Jury Prize for Acting. Glassland will open here on April 17th.
