The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Chloë Grace Moretz will replace Dakota Fanning in Irish director Gerard Barrett’s next film Brain on Fire.
Fanning had been due to star as the lead in the adaptation of Susannah Cahalan’s best-selling memoir Brain On Fire: My Month Of Madness, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflict.
This marks the second change in cast for the film after Thomas Mann replaced Will Poulter as the boyfriend in the film last month. Barrett is adapting the screenplay for the film, which follows a young woman’s descent into insanity.
An Irish/Canadian co-production, Brain On Fire will be produced by Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, and A.J. Dix for Denver & Delilah Films and Rob Merilees for Foundation Features. Barrett is also attached as co-producer.
Shooting is set to take place in Vancouver and New York in July, with Mister Smith Entertainment handling sales.
