The Sundance Film Festival kicks off today in Park City Utah and we’ve already got some good news on an Irish film front with Deadline reporting that Glassland director Gerard Barrett has lined up his next film, an adaptation of Susannah Cahalan’s bestselling memoir Brain On Fire: My Month Of Madness.
Barrett is adapting the screenplay for the film, which will star Dakota Fanning in the leading role. The story follows a young woman’s descent into insanity.
An Irish/Canadian co-production, Brain On Fire will be produced by Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, and A.J. Dix for Denver & Delilah Films and Rob Merilees for Foundation Features. Barrett is also attached as co-producer.
Shooting is set to take place in Vancouver and New York in May. Barrett’s current feature Glassland is playing in competition at the iconic festival, and stars Jack Reynor, Toni Collette, and Michael Smiley. Glassland will open here on April 17th.
