Currently funding on Fund It is Beyond The Woods, a feature length horror film from writer/director Sean Breathnach.
Beyond The Woods follows a group of friends who go to a secluded holiday home for the weekend so they can catch up with each other, re-connect and escape their busy lives. Unfortunately for them, a fiery sinkhole has opened in the mountain nearby, it’s burning hot, and spewing out an awful stench of sulphur. Over the course of the weekend, some of the friends start behaving out of character, one disappears, and they all experience troubling events. It’s too late when they realise that it’s not just a sinkhole that has opened near their isolated retreat, but something altogether more horrific.
The film marks the feature debut for Breathnach, whose 9 short films to date have screened at numerous festivals home and abroad. His crew include Páraic English as Director of Photography, Hugo Parvery on Sound, Arlene Keating on Make-Up, and Jason Keane as 2nd Unit. Egomotion founder Dan O’Connell acts as Executive Producer.
Beyond The Woods is currently in pre-production, with a cast that includes Irene Kelleher, Claire Loy, Ruth Hayes, John Ryan Howard, Mark Griffin, and Sebastian Thommen. Shooting starts in July, with post-production to be completed before the end of the year.
To help make the film the producers are looking to raise €11,000. This money will secure props, masks, blood, makeup, equipment hire, locations, transport, food, and posters. Any additional funding above and beyond this goal would go towards distribution and festival submission fees. It’s an extraordinarily ambitious project that needs help to succeed.
